VOLUNTEER SCREENING PROCESS

The Archdiocese of Toronto requires screening for volunteers serving in ministries, especially those working with children, youth, or vulnerable persons, and for anyone participating in overnight or multi-day events.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AND FOLLOWS THE STEPS BELOW.

Send all completed forms and confirmations to screening@peterandpaul.church.

STEP 1: COMPLETE THE ONLINE APPLICATION FORM

Choose the correct form for your age. Download the form and complete it electronically.

Under “Check all positions that you are interested in below,” select the ministry for which you want to volunteer. If it is not listed, select “Other” and type the name of the ministry (for example: Passion Play, Mission Trip, etc.).

Email the completed form to screening@peterandpaul.church

STEP 2: READ AND SIGN THE VOLUNTEER GUIDELINES AND CODE OF CONDUCT

  • PART 2: Download and fill out the Volunteer Acknowledgement & Agreement Statement: CLICK HERE

Email the Volunteer Acknowledgement & Agreement Statement to screening@peterandpaul.church

STEP 3: COMPLETE THE REQUIRED TRAINING MODULES

All volunteers must complete both modules. The training can be done at your own time. Total time is about two hours. Follow the instructions in the training to confirm your completion.

  • AODA – Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act
  • OHRC – Ontario Human Rights Commission

STEP 4 : CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK

(Mandatory for volunteers age 18 and older)

To begin your criminal background check: CLICK HERE

  • This is completed through the Archdiocese of Toronto.
  • There is no cost to you when required for parish ministry.
  • Completing this form is still required even if you have completed the criminal background cehck elsewhere. 

SUMMARY CHECKLIST

  • By the end of this process, you should have emailed the following documents to screening@peterandpaul.church
    • Online Application Form and Volunteer Acknowledgement & Agreement Statement
  • Completed the Training Modules and, if age 18+, the Criminal Background Check. 

IF YOU HAVE ALREADY COMPLETED SCREENING

You may not need to repeat the full process if:

• You completed screening for the same ministry or another ministry in this parish within the last five years
• You completed screening at another parish in the Archdiocese of Toronto within the last five years
